plast expo 2011 in Morocco a resounding success – Exhibitors all smiles as number of visitors increases by 40%

On April 6, 2011, the president of the Moroccan Plastics Federation FMP, Mamoun Marrakchi, officially inaugurated plast expo 2011, the 4th International Plastics, Rubber, Composites, Packaging and Conditioning Trade Fair for Morocco and North Africa in the presence of the general directors of the chambers of commerce and industry of Austria, Germany, France and Italy in Morocco, the president of the Valencia Association of Plastics Producers-AVEP of Spain, as well as representatives of exhibiting companies and some 25 representatives of the Moroccan press.

“We are very happy that plast expo 2011 takes place in a context of strong growth and that, despite all the events in the region, even more exhibitors are participating this time. The turnover of the plastics industry in Morocco has grown to more than 14 billion dirham (Euro 1.3 billion) in 2010, after ten years of double-digit growth”, outlined Mamoun Marrakchi. “The technological solutions offered by the exhibitors during plast expo 2011 represent state-of-the-art technologies on an international level and correspond perfectly to the needs of our companies in the plastics industry.”

In the evening of the last day of the event, Nabil Saouaf, FMP’s general-director summed up: “Thanks to a vast promotion campaign, the organizers, the Moroccan Plastics Federation FMP in cooperation with Forum 7 and fairtrade, have succeeded to sharply increase the number of trade visitors at plast expo 2011 (after 2,058 trade visitors at plast expo 2009). With 2,881 trade visitors (+40%!) discussing business with 137 exhibitors from 18 countries (+34% compared to 2009), plast expo 2011 confirmed its status as Morocco’s and the Maghreb’s major and highly efficient business-to-business event with a clear focus on quality attendees.”

plast expo 2011 was organized against the backdrop of massive investments into the North-African plastics and packaging industry and a huge increase in demand for plastics and chemical products. The organizers focused on generating valuable business contacts for exhibitors and trade visitors from the public and private sectors.

Held from 06 to 09 April 2011 at the Casablanca International Fairgrounds – OFEC, the 4th International Plastics, Rubber, Composites, Packaging and Conditioning Trade Fair for Morocco and North Africa saw the participation of international market leaders from Austria, Brazil, China, Egypt, France, Germany, India, Italy, Morocco, Portugal, South Korea, Spain, Switzerland, Pakistan, Taiwan, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates.

Seven group participations were present at plast expo 2011. For the very first time the French Trade Commission ubifrance organized an official pavilion consisting of major French companies active in plastics machinery and equipment. As well as the Austrian pavilion “Expo Austria”, the Valencia Association of Plastic Producers-AVEP from Spain, the Milan Chamber of Commerce through Promos and group pavilions from China, South Korea and Taiwan.

The commitments of notable international market leaders, major European plastics associations and national group pavilions made plast expo 2011 a perfect meeting point to create valuable business contacts in North-Africa. The event also enjoys the official support of the Moroccan Ministry of Industry, Trade and New Technologies, the Ministry of Foreign Trade and of CGEM-General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises.

In 2009, the organizers have “earned the ‘UFI Approved Event’ quality label for plast expo as certification of the highest level of professional exhibition standards” (UFI-The Global Association of the Exhibition Industry).
