plast expo 09 in Casablanca: Mission accomplished as efficient Euro-Mediterranean gateway to Africa!

2,058 registered trade visitors from 27 countries discussed business with 102 exhibitors

AMP and Maroc Export implemented hosted-buyers’ program for high-profile trade visitors from Algeria, Egypt, Gabon, Ivory Coast, Jordan, Mali, Mauritania, Senegal and Tunisia

plast expo 09 worked out successfully as the Euro-Mediterranean gateway to Africa as 102 exhibitors from 19 countries met and discussed business with 2,058 registered trade visitors from 27 states on 2 to 5 June 2009 at the Casablanca International Fairgrounds.

The 102 exhibitors, who had demonstrated their latest technologies, derived from Algeria, Austria, China, Egypt, France, Germany, Great Britain, Greece, India, Italy, Morocco, Portugal, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Spain, Syria, Switzerland, Taiwan and Tunisia.

Held under the auspices of the Moroccan Minister of Industry, Trade and New Technologies, Mr Ahmed Reda Chami, and organised by the Moroccan Plastics Association AMP in cooperation with Forum 7 and fairtrade, the 3rd International Plastics and Rubber Industry Exhibition was a resounding success.

In contrary to the economical situation in most parts of the world, the production of the Moroccan, North-African and African plastics industry is still on the upswing, with double-digit growth rates in 2009 as well as in the past few years. 35,000 employees work in the Moroccan plastics industry alone, generating a turn-over of Euro 600 million in 2008.

AMP, the Moroccan Plastics Association, made successfully use of plast expo 09 by reinforcing its ties with important European plastics associations. AMP signed an agreement with the Valencia Association of Plastics Producers from Spain, and discussed further cooperation with the French plastics association Plastipolis and Assocomaplast from Italy, who also held a conference on latest innovations in the plastics industry.

To internationalise the event, AMP and the Moroccan state agency for export promotion, Maroc Export, had successfully put a hosted-buyers’ program into effect. High-profile trade visitors from Algeria, Egypt, Gabon, Ivory Coast, Jordan, Mali, Mauritania, Senegal and Tunisia had been invited to discuss business with plast expo 09 exhibitors.

The organisers AMP, Forum 7 and fairtrade also agreed on the schedule for the forthcoming events, always to be held alternately in Morocco and in Algeria. The next plast expo in Casablanca will be organised by June 2011.

In 2010, the 1st International Plastics and Rubber Industry Trade Fair, plast alger, is scheduled to be held in Algiers.
